Meet the Clubhouse Community – Lynda
Lynda has been completing 80 hours of work placement at the YWCA Canberra Clubhouse. It has been fantastic having Lynda as part of the Clubhouse Community and we caught up with her to chat about her experience at the YWCA Canberra Clubhouse.
How did you connect with the Clubhouse?
I’m studying Youth Work, Community Service, Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol through CIT and am doing my 80 hour placement with the YWCA Canberra. I heard about the Clubhouse through my work placement and I’ve had the opportunity to engage with the young people at the Clubhouse.
What kind of activities have you mentored or assisted with in your time at the Clubhouse?
I’ve done lots of drawing, papier mache (I fixed my balloon that I ruined!), we’ve made video projects, and spent lots of time interacting and getting to the know the members.
What have you found most rewarding about being a mentor at the Clubhouse?
The experience of meeting the members, there all such a good bunch of kids and are so funny.
